Foreign student’s employment

We are going to post about what foreigners are wondering.
Those are most important information related to Korean Visa, residence and immigration.


Q: I am a foreign student and going to the Korean University. Can I have part time job studying in Korea under D-2 visa? Without allowance, do I get punished?

A: Foreign student can have part time job for getting living expenses during semester and vacation. But not allowed deviating studying purpose. For part-time employment, students should get permission from immigration management office where you live.

If you want to get part-time job, you should finish more than one semester (6 months) course and have recommendation from professor.

- Allowed time: less than 20 hours a week during semester

- Required documents: passport, certification of alien registration, confirmation of employment
( including Period of part time job, place, types of business, responsibilities, business owner registration number) advisor’s recommendation

- Commission is 30.000 won


If you violate admission condition of part time job

- First violation: documentary warning
- Second violation: permission canceled, employment restriction for a year
- Third violation: part-time job limitation during violator’s staying
- After third violation: visiting permission would be canceled and go back to violator’s country
